Speakers

Philipp Aeby, a Swiss citizen born in 1968, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of RepRisk AG with effect from July 2010. Prior to this role he served as Chief Operating Officer since June 2008. He joined the company when the RepRisk service was launched in May 2006 and became a managing partner in January 2007.
From 2002 until April 2006, Philipp Aeby worked for Amgen International where he was a member of the Regional European Management Team based in Brussels and in charge of budgeting, planning, and sales and marketing operations for Benelux, Central and Eastern Europe, the Nordics countries, and the UK. He also served as a member of the European Sales Leadership Council.
Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, he carried out a number of international assignments with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Prior to BCG, he worked as a Project Manager with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and as a Research Associate at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture in Colombia.
Philipp Aeby holds a PhD in environmental physics from ETH Zurich and is author of the thriller "Kolumbianische Scheidung".

Lisa Beauvilain joined Impax Asset Management, an London-based environmental investment firm, as an Investment Manager in 2010. Impax invests globally in companies and projects within renewable energy, energy efficiency, pollution control, waste management and water. Lisa is responsible for investment research of environmental policy and legislation, as well as the Environmental, Social and Governance-analysis (ESG) at Impax.

Prior to joining Impax, she worked in the environmental sector as an independent consultant focusing on environmental policy. Prior to that she worked for eight years at Goldman Sachs International as an Executive Director within the Investment Management Division managing assets of mainly Nordic foundations and small institutions. She is a Trustee at the International Institute of Environment and Development ("IIED"). Lisa holds a M.Sc. in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science, United Kingdom and a M.Sc. in Finance from the Hanken School of Economics, Helsinki, Finland. She is a Finnish national, fluent in Swedish, Finnish, English and French, domiciled in London.


Uwe Bergmann is the Director Sustainability Management at Henkel. His responsibilities include the development of the sustainability strategy and the coordination of Henkel's Sustainability Council, driving the implementation of the strategy together with Henkel's business units and functions as well as the development of steering and communication tools.

He holds a M.Sc. in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London and a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, Norwich.

Prior to joining Henkel in 2000, he worked as a Researcher and Consultant at the Institute for Environmental Management at the European Business School, in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany.


Matt Christensen joined AXA Investment Managers in 2011 as Global Head of Responsible Investment. Matt has been a leading voice in the field of responsible investment and was a member of the European Commission's Co-ordination Committee to explore the future of sustainability policy and legislation in the EU.

He previously held the position of Founding Executive Director of Eurosif from 2002 until his appointment at AXA IM. Eurosif is the leading European Responsible Investment think tank, grouping some 85 financial service providers and representing assets totalling over €1 trillion.

Prior to that, Matt advised European clients as a strategy consultant with Braxton Associates/Deloitte Consulting, before becoming business development director of the Motley Fool, a multimedia financial-services company. He holds MBA and MA degrees from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.


Robert Hauser is head of the Thematic & Sustainability Research of Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) which is part of the Thematic & Sustainable Investments Department in the Asset Management.

The team of seven analysts, together with the portfolio managers, provides the basis for Thematic & Sustainable Investment Products. From 1999 to August 2006 he was deputy head of the department he now heads, having started his career at ZKB as an environmental analyst in 1997. Robert Hauser graduated from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) in 1996 with a Master's Degree in environmental sciences.

Since 2003 he holds an Executive MBA from Zürcher Hochschule Winterthur (ZHW). Since 2010, Robert also co-organises thematic events (FNG-Dialog) within the Forum Nachhaltige Geldanlagen (regional Sustainable Investment Forum (SIF) for Germany, Austria and Switzerland) in Switzerland.


Piet Klop leads PGGM’s engagement with companies in the Food, Utility and Chemical sectors, as well as on the cross-sectoral theme of water risk.

Piet’s also working on ESG integration in fixed income and strategic asset allocation. He previously held senior positions at the World Resources Institute in Washington DC, at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and worked an environmental economist at the UN, World Bank and in the private sector.

Piet holds master’s degrees in Water Resources Management (Wageningen University, 1989) and Applied Environmental Economics (University of London, 1999), as well as certificates on Valuation and Integrated Risk Management (New York University, 2010) and Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (Harvard Business School, 2010).


Dr. Karl Mahler became the Head of the Investor Relations team at F. Hoffmann-La Roche in 2002 after having previously worked at Ciba Geigy and Aventis.

He started his professional career as Head of Investment & Strategic Planning at Ciba Geigy in Switzerland and founded a cancer research hospital in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) – the Tumor Biology Center.
This was followed by various positions overseas, notably in China where he worked as a General Manager for Pharma in Shanghai and Beijing.
Karl Mahler gained his Ph.D. in Economics and Sociology at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany.


Georgina Marshall is the Head of European Governance Research for Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). ISS provides corporate governance research, voting recommendations and proxy voting services to over 1700 institutional investor clients across Europe and worldwide.

Based in London, Georgina leads the ISS governance research teams based in London, Brussels, Paris and Frankfurt covering the EMEA region including Continental Europe and the UK.

Prior to joining ISS in 2012, Georgina was Regional Head of Corporate Governance for Aviva Investors, a global asset manager with a proven track record of leading corporate governance and responsible investment practices. Before her 10-year tenure at Aviva Investors, she held finance, IT and governance roles at Swiss Re and at M&G Reinsurance. She is a graduate of the University of Exeter in English and Medieval Studies, is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW), and a member of ICAEW Faculty of Finance and Management.


Anthony Miller is an Economic Affairs Officer with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Dr. Miller is a specialist on issues of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate governance, with special emphasis on how these issues impact developing countries. He served as an expert in the ISO Working Group on Social Responsibility where, as a member of the integrated drafting task force, he was responsible for drafting significant portions of the ISO 26000 standard. He is one of the principal organizers of the Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative, named by Forbes magazine as one of the "world's best sustainability ideas". He was the author of the CSR section of UNCTAD's 2011 World Investment Report, and lead author of a 2011 interagency paper to the G20 "Promoting standards for responsible investment in value chains". He provides policy advice on corporate governance disclosure and CSR to a number of international and national bodies. His ongoing work includes research projects on corporate governance disclosure in emerging markets, the CSR practices of transnational corporations, CSR impacts on global value chains, and the responsible investment practices of institutional investors.
Prior to joining UNCTAD, Dr. Miller was a consultant with the International Labour Organization and the High Commission for Human Rights. Before going into public sector work, he was an executive at Robert Bosch GmbH with postings in India, Singapore and China. He holds a B.A. from Trent University, Canada, and an M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Cambridge University, England. He lectures annually on CSR at the Cambridge University Centre of Development Studies, and is a frequent guest lecturer at a number of other universities.

Simone Quatrini leads the Policy and Investment Analysis programme in the Global Mechanism of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). He also coordinates national- and global-level strategic initiatives to promote large scale public and private investments for sustainable land management. Mr Quatrini is co-founder of the OSLO (Offering Sustainable Land-use Options) consortium.
Mr Quatrini is a financial analyst and ecological economist, trained at the College of Europe, the University of Stirling, the Free University of Brussels, and the Polytechnic University of Marche. He is a PhD candidate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich).
Before joining the United Nations, Mr Quatrini worked as project manager and marketing executive in the supply chain management division of IBM, the multinational computer technology corporation. Prior to that he served as liaison officer with the European Commission for a number of financial industry groups.


Antti Savilaakso is Director of Responsible Investment & Governance at Nordea. Antti has previously worked with ESG analysis and corporate engagement at Responsible Research in Singapore, Dexia Asset Management in Brussels and ABN AMRO Asset Management in Amsterdam.

Antti has studied investment implications of corporate responsibility and sustainable development extensively and globally.


Within APG Sander Paul van Tongeren is responsible for integrating sustainability and governance as widely as possible across APG's global real estate and infrastructure portfolio. At present, he joins EPRA's Sustainability Reporting Committee, INREV's Sustainability Working Group, UN PRI's Property Advisory Group, IIGCC's Property Working Group.

Sander Paul is co-founder of the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (www.GRESB.com). Before joining APG in March 2009, he worked as an interim Portfolio Manager at CBRE GI (formerly known as ING Real Estate).

Sander Paul holds a Masters degree in Business Economics as well as an Executive Master degree of Finance and Control from the University of Amsterdam and a Master of Studies in Real Estate from the Amsterdam School of Real Estate. Furthermore, he is member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (specialisation Environment).


Stéphane Voisin is head of Sustainability Research & Responsible Investment at Kepler Cheuvreux. the European equity broker and Research House, which is ranked world number 1 for SRI & Sustainability Research (Thomson Extel survey).

Stéphane Voisin holds an MBA in law and finance and has 25 years experience in equity markets. He teaches "sustainable finance' at the Paris-Dauphine University and has authored a number of reports on social, governance and environmental issues and contributed to the 'Finance and Sustainable developments" published by Economica. Stephane is a member of the EFFAS committee for ESG Kpis as well as of the Technical Committee of the IIRC. He also sits at the board and scientific committees of various NGOs and Social initiatives. He and his team recently received the prestigious London City & Gresham College Farsight Award for their work on the sustainability of the Luxury Goods sector.


Robert Walker has 10 years’ experience working both on the buy and sell side and is currently a Senior ESG analyst with a speciality in Corporate Governance  at Kepler Cheuvreux.

Robert is responsible for developing and coordinating corporate governance research at Kepler Cheuvreux as a key part of the investment case based on our belief that governance partly determines the risk profile of equity investments. He has written numerous investment research reports on governance topics, including: Remuneration, Succession Planning & Hidden ownership. Robert was rated No 1 analyst for Corporate Governance research in the Thompson Reuters Extel Survey for Pan European Investment research in 2012 and 2013.

Prior to Kepler Cheuvreux, Robert worked for Governance for Owners LLP as an analyst working with the Stewardship Services team to analyse and engage with companies on corporate governance issues.


Reinhilde Weidacher is Head of Research at Ethix SRI Advisors. She leads Ethix’s team of ESG analysts and works closely with institutional investors to develop their SRI strategies.

Reinhilde is an expert in the area of arms trade and violent conflicts. Prior to joining Ethix SRI Advisors in 2003, she has worked as an independent consultant on arms and peace related issues for international NGOs and research organizations, including the Swedish Defence Research Agency and the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey.

She also researched the global military industry for six years at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). She holds a Laurea in Political Science from Bologna University, Italy, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Sciences from Stockholm University, Sweden. Reinhilde speaks German, Dutch, Italian, Swedish and English.


Patrick Wirth, a Swiss ciziten born in 1975, was appointed Managing Director for GES Switzerland in 2009. He is servicing the markets in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg supporting asset owners and managers develop and implement integrated investment strategies with ESG considerations. GES, founded 1992 in Stockholm, is an owner advocate adding proven value to €750 billion of investments worldwide by assessing and engaging with clients' portfolio companies.

Prior to joining GES, he was Head of Research at Zurich based asset manager Care Group, co-responsible for launching the first responsible fund of funds in the German speaking market and member of the investment committee.

Patrick holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from ETH Zurich, as well as a postgraduate diploma as Swiss Fund Office FA/IAF. He is also member of the two working groups "FNG Dialog" and "Institutional Investors" within the Forum Nachhaltige Geldanlagen (regional Sustainable Investment Forum).
